Theological / Devotional

Levy a tribute. Literally, “lift up a fixed amount.” The word here translated “tribute” occurs elsewhere only in vs. 37-41. For other examples of the division of booty see Joshua 22:8; 1 Sam. 30:24, 25.

Sheep. The Hebrew word includes goats as well as sheep.
