Distress. “Distress” and “anguish” are synonyms, signifying literally “squeezing and narrowness,” in contrast with the freedom of a large sphere. Wisdom is not represented as bringing the disasters. These come as a result of neglecting the instruction of wisdom and refusing the divine protection that wisdom offers.
