Proverbs 25:1

Copied out. Literally, “removed,” or, according to the later technical meaning of the word, “transcribed.” These proverbs were evidently copied either from other writings or from collections or some, perhaps, from oral sources — people who had been taught these sayings of Solomon. Among those who helped in this task may have been Isaiah the prophet, Shebna the scribe, and Joah the chronicler (2 Kings 18:18; cf. 2 Chron. 26:22).
