Theological / DevotionalSharpeneth. The sharpening has been variously interpreted. Some have felt it could mean only to make the friend angry so that he gives “sharp” looks; but most have taken it in the good sense of increasing a friend’s wisdom and initiative by mutual help and rivalry as the iron of the file or of the hammer sharpens the iron of the blade.
