Theological / Devotional

Are in authority. Literally, “increase.” The contrast with the second clause suggests the thought that the righteous who are increased are in authority. When good men have a chance to flourish, everyone is free and untrammeled, and even more so when the righteous are in control (see chs. 11:10; 28:12, 28).
