Theological / Devotional

Horseleach. Heb. ‘aluqah. From its similarity with the Syriac, New Hebrew, and Arabic, also on the testimony of LXX, most expositors agree that ‘aluqah describes a large leech, common in Palestine, which has an insatiable desire for blood.

Crying, Give. The first clause reads literally, “the leech has two daughters, Give, Give.” “Give” may be considered either the name or the cry of these daughters.
