Who hath known? The quotation is from Isa. 40:13, agreeing with the reading of the LXX (cf. 1 Cor. 2:16). The Hebrew reads, “Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor hath taught him?” Paul now justifies the exclamations of Rom. 11:33 from OT passages that speak of the knowledge and wisdom and riches of God. The two parts of this verse speak of God’s knowledge and wisdom; v. 35, of His riches.
