Commentary on Romans 11:36

Theological / Devotional

For of him. This verse gives the reason why no one can make God his debtor. For all things were created by Him (see Acts 17:24, 25; 1 Cor. 8:6). All created things owe their continuing existence and activity to Him who still “worketh all in all” (1 Cor. 12:6; cf. Acts 17:28; Heb. 2:10). And all things are directed toward the working out of His purposes and the glory of His name.

To whom be glory. Compare Rom. 16:27; Gal. 1:5; Phil. 4:20; 2 Tim. 4:18; Heb. 13:21. With this brief but sublime doxology Paul comes to the end of the more doctrinal and argumentative section of his epistle.
