Theological / Devotional

It shall come to pass. This second OT quotation is from Hosea 1:10. In its original context it is a prediction of the recalling of the scattered tribes. Paul shows how the promise will be fulfilled with respect to the Christian church (see on Hosea 1:10).

In the place. This seems to mean that in the place where the tribes, or later the Gentiles, had endured the reproach of being told that they were not God’s people, they would be called His sons.
