By grace. Here meaning “with thankfulness,” a reference to the prayer of thanksgiving at meals. For the background of the statement of v. 30 see on v. 29. If a man gives thanks to God for what he eats, and can without qualms of conscience, why should he be criticized?

Evil spoken of. Gr. blasphemed, “to rail at,” “to revile,” “to slander.”
