Theological / Devotional

Touching the Gentiles. James, the Lord’s brother, who was spokesman for the elders in making to Paul the suggestion to purify himself, also had presided at the Council of Jerusalem (ch. 15:13). He assured Paul that there was no question now of the freedom of the Gentiles: they did not need to follow the Jewish observances, and he reminded Paul of the terms of the liberating decision (see on v. 20).
