Galatians 1:11

I certify you. Paul solemnly announces the subject to which chs. 1:11 to 2:21 in particular are devoted.

Not after man. The point at issue is Paul’s authority as an apostle, and thus the validity of his “gospel” — of salvation by faith instead of by the “works of the law.” He devotes much space to a detailed account of certain incidents from the time of his conversion to the council at Jerusalem, at which the apostles formally acknowledged his call to the gospel ministry. This was necessary because of the insistent claim of the Judaizing teachers that because Paul was not one of the Twelve, therefore his gospel was not apostolic and consequently not genuine. In vs. 12-24 he proves the divine origin of his gospel, and in eh. 2:1-10 he sets forth evidence to prove that the apostles acknowledged its validity.
