Theological / Devotional

Not so, my Lord. Instead of cooperating cheerfully with God’s plan for the preservation of his life, Lot presumed upon God’s great mercy. Referring to the supposed impossibility of escaping to the mountains, he begged for permission to take refuge in the small neighboring city of Bela (ch. 14:2), afterward called Zoar, “little,” on this account. Lot was still reluctant to leave the ease and luxury of city life for what seemed to him a precarious and uncertain existence.
