Theological / Devotional

This man. Rather, “this one.” There is here no word for “man” in the Greek. The humanity of Jesus is not denied, it is simply not expressed.

One. In contrast with the many offered by earthly priests (v. 11).

For ever. Gr. eis to dienekes (see on v. 1). Here the translation “for all time” seems the most appropriate. The benefits of that one sacrifice were of permanent value.

Sat down. Signifying a completed task (see on v. 11).

Right hand of God. See on ch. 1:3.
