Hebrews 9:6

Ordained. Rather, “prepared,” “furnished.” The idea is that the tabernacle had been erected and furnished.

Went. Rather “go.” The tense of the Greek verb is present. The action is represented as habitually going on (cf. on v. 9).

First tabernacle. That is, the first apartment (see on v. 2).

Accomplishing the service. Part of the service was the daily offering of incense in the holy place and the trimming of the lamps (Exodus 27:20, 21; 30:7, 8). Weekly the shewbread was set in order on the table (Leviticus 24:5-9). Also, whenever the anointed priest, or the whole congregation, sinned, a bullock was sacrificed, and the priest took of this blood and brought it into the first apartment. There he dipped his finger in the blood and sprinkled it seven times before the veil, and also put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet incense before the Lord (Leviticus 4:5-7, 16-18).
