Theological / Devotional

They that see thee. The figure of vs. 9, 10 is repeated. The “dead,” the “chief ones of the earth,” who preceded Lucifer to “the pit” (v. 15), stare incredibly at him when he descends to join them. It should be remembered that this entire section is highly figurative (see on v. 4).
