Theological / Devotional

The children. The first two clauses of v. 20 are from two Hebrew words meaning, literally, “the children of your bereavement,” that is, “the children born in the time of your bereavement” (RSV). Zion had lost her sons and daughters, and had been put away by her husband, Jehovah; nevertheless, she would again have children (see ch. 54:1).
