Commentary on Jeremiah 25:18

Theological / Devotional

Judah. Jeremiah begins the recital of the divine judgments, with a prophecy of the chastisement pronounced upon his own people for their iniquity, and then he passes on to that to be inflicted upon other nations (see 1 Peter 4:17).

Astonishment. Literally, “a horror” (see on ch. 5:30).

Hissing. An expression of derision.
