Theological / DevotionalWonderful. Heb. shammah, “an awful event,” “a dreadful event,” or “a horror.” The word is synonymous with the one translated “horrible.” An astounding and horrible thing would happen in the land. Verses 30, 31 summarize the reasons for the inevitable doom about to come upon Jerusalem. The prophets, priests, and people were united in evil.
