Theological / Devotional

I begin to bring evil. Again, as in v. 18, the picture of divine judgment opens with a view of the chastisement of the Israelites (see 1 Peter 4:17). If Jerusalem cannot escape the Chaldean invasion, surely the surrounding nations cannot. Therefore they, as well as Judah, will be wise if they submit to the Babylonian yoke (see Jer. 49:12).
