Make clean the outside. For comment on vs. 39, 40 see on Matt. 23:25.

Ravening. Gr. harpage, “rapine,” “plunder,” “pillage,” “spoil,” or “robbery.” In Heb. 10:34 harpage is translated “spoiling.” The adjective form, harpax, is used in referring to “ravening” wolves (see on Matt. 7:15) and to “extortioners” (see Luke 18:11; 1 Cor. 5:10 ; 6:10).
