Theological / DevotionalMoney. Gr. nomisma, literally, “anything sanctioned by law or by custom”; hence, “money.” Similarly, today we speak of money as “legal tender.” Roman taxes must be paid in Roman coin. Local rulers were permitted to issue their own copper coins, but Rome reserved the right to mint silver coins.
