Theological / Devotional

Salute your brethren. The universal Oriental greeting, shalom or salaam, “peace,” includes wishing spiritual and material blessings (v. 9).

The publicans. Nothing worthy of mention in doing what everyone does. Some manuscripts read “Gentiles” instead of “publicans” (cf. Matt. 6:7).
