Theological / Devotional

Witty inventions. Heb. mezimmoth. All previous occurrences of this word (chs. 1:4; 2:11; 3:21; 5:2) have been translated “discretion.” There is no valid reason to depart from this definition here. Mezimmah comes from the root zamam, which means “to consider,” “to purpose,” “to devise.” This verse begins a long section in which wisdom extols her high value.
